A British built company with over 35 years of industry experience, The Taxi Shop has grown from a specialist taxi vehicle provider into one of the UK’s trusted suppliers of taxi and commercial vehicles.
The story began with our founder, Robert Breuilly, who started his career in the taxi industry over 35 years ago, working as a taxi salesman himself. During this time, Rob gained invaluable experience selling taxis and developing a deep understanding of the needs and challenges faced by professional drivers and operators.
His passion for the industry continued to grow, and after many years working within the sector, Rob found himself working alongside Jigsaw, a specialist taxi finance provider, supplying vehicles to taxi drivers through their finance solutions. This experience gave him an even greater understanding of what customers needed — not only the right vehicle, but honest advice, reliable support and a supplier they could trust.
In December 2004, Rob took the next step and created Bus & Taxis Direct T/A The Taxi Shop. Built from his knowledge, experience and relationships within the industry, the business was founded with a simple goal: to provide quality vehicles with a personal service that puts customers first.
The early days of The Taxi Shop began from a small garage at the back of Rob’s home. From these humble beginnings, Rob’s vision was to create something different — a business that could provide customers with drive-away-ready taxis and deliver high-quality vehicle conversions completed in-house.
Through dedication, hard work and a commitment to customer service, the business continued to grow. In 2018, Rob reached a significant milestone by purchasing the company’s first dedicated premises in Ampthill, allowing The Taxi Shop to expand its operations and bring more of the preparation and conversion process in-house.
This was a major step forward in achieving Rob’s vision of creating a complete taxi vehicle solution, giving customers confidence that their vehicle was being prepared by an experienced team with specialist industry knowledge.
Since then, The Taxi Shop has continued to expand, developing its used vehicle offering, specialist conversions and commercial vehicle solutions. Rob is incredibly proud of how the business has grown, from working out of a home garage to becoming an established UK supplier trusted by taxi drivers, operators and businesses nationwide.
Behind every vehicle is a dedicated team of experienced professionals, many of whom have been part of our journey for many years. From sales and marketing to vehicle preparation, conversions, compliance and delivery, every member of our team plays an important role in ensuring our customers receive the high level of service they deserve.
